First captured by Ansel Adams, Yosemite Valley is one of the most photographed natural wonders in the world. While photographers from around the world have canvassed and captured this place, not all of their photos showcase the partnership between man and nature.

My final project is titled “Timeless: Romanticism and Natural Wonder in Yosemite National Park.” Drawing from the concept of romanticism, which heralds the omnipotence of the natural world, this photo story and collection explore the relationship that humans can have with a physical space.

I chose to convey this theme and these subjects in two formats: a Photo Story, and a Photo Collection. This photographic series explicates the relationship between man and the natural world. I wanted to capture Yosemite Valley from the eyes of a first time visitor, and convey the beauty of the human experience within this natural landscape.

The project is named “Timeless” because I sought to convey how fresh and new Yosemite feels when new and old park visitors enter its cathedral-like gates. Though the leaves fall upon the ground, the waterfalls slow down to thin streams, the days grow shorter and the light changes, Yosemite remains stoic and unchanged-existing outside of time, just like the photographic medium.
